A vacancy currently exists for a Trade Worker at Mokala National Park, situated about 86 km from Kimberley. A person that will suit this position will be an all-rounder with general technical skills and be a problem solver and should have the ability to work independently at times.
Requirements
- Grade 12 certificate.
- Code EB (code 8) is essential while a Code EC (code 10) driver’s license with a valid PDP will be an added advantage.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work on his/her own.
- Completed Trade Workers Development Programs and/or technical courses will serve as an added advantage.
- 3 Years of related experience in a general technical/maintenance field preferably in a rural environment.
- Do standby duties and work overtime on weekends & public holidays when required.
Responsibilities
- Physically carrying out unskilled and semi-skilled tasks such as Civil & Electrical maintenance, (minor electrical work), tiling, painting, plumbing, building, and welding in accordance with predetermined quality and productivity, and set standards.
- Trade related work such as repairs or routine maintenance to buildings, structures, services (water, electrical, sewerage and septic tank systems, and waste management), equipment, water pumps, etc.
- Daily vehicle, equipment, and electricity supply inspections, maintenance thereof and update of applicable log and time sheets.
- Assistance with fuel and oil provision to all departments
- Daily stock control and reporting and documentation of any anomalies to supervisor.
- General cleaning and upkeep of technical stores and equipment.
- Driving duties including transport of equipment, materials, and staff.
- Perform daily services throughout the park providing a clean, safe,e and pleasant environment for staff and visitors.

Please Note
The remuneration package includes a basic salary, based on the salary scale of a position with a Paterson B4 grade and benefits as specified in the HR Tariff Document and Conditions of Services of SANParks. It will be required of the incumbent to take up accommodation inside the park.
