The Department of Health is inviting suitably qualified applicants to apply for Sterilization Operator Production vacancy.

STERILIZATION OPERATOR PRODUCTION
- Chief Directorate: Metro Health Services
- SALARY: R163 680 per annum
- CENTRE: Khayelitsha District Hospital
REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum educational qualification: General Education and Training Certificate (GETC)/Grade 9 (Std 7).
- Experience: Appropriate experience in a health environment.
- Inherent requirements of the job: Willingness to work shifts (day and night duty), including weekends and public holidays.
- Physically fit to lift heavy objects, push heavy trolleys, bend down, and stay on feet for long hours.
- Competencies (knowledge/skills): Good interpersonal relations skills. Ability to work in a co-operative way within a team context. Basic literacy, both verbally and in writing. Basic understanding of disinfection, decontamination and sterilisation.

DUTIES:
- Collect and deliver soiled and clean linen and packs to and from theatre and wards.
- Effective application of sterilisation processes and techniques and promote/adhere to infection control as well as health and safety regulations.
- Decontaminate, pack and sterilisation of instruments, linen, and supplies.
- Assist with cleaning and testing of sterilisation equipment, washing machines and autoclaves.
- Maintain equipment in optimum working condition.
- Cost effective utilisation of resources, monitor, control and maintain adequate stock levels.
- Report and assist with investigation of lost instruments/equipment.
- Support to the supervisor and team members.
