Requirements:

  • Minimum of Grade 10 / ABET level 4 certificate and above (original school report / transcript with school stamp).
  • Must be able to cope with the physical demands of the position.
  • Proven previous experience as a Handyman i.e. gardening, painting, plumbing fixing door handles, replacement of globes and taps in a formal environment will be an added advantage.
  • Attach stamped and signed testimonial from the Supervisor.
  • Adhere to Occupational Health and Safety Regulations and Prevention and Control principles.
  • Sound knowledge of Batho Pele principles.
  • Be prepared to rotate and operate as a reliever in all sections when requested.
  • Execute any other legal duties / instruction given by the supervisor.
  • Willing to work shifts, weekend, public holidays and nights.
  • Be able to work in a team and under pressure.

Duties:

  • Perform basic repairs and maintenance task required, e. g changing doors and door handles, taps, window glasses and equipment.
  • Removal of garden rubble, cleaning and weeding of pavement area around the premises.
  • Pick-up litter, water planted areas and irrigation.
  • Cut lawn using lawn mower and brush cutter and trim edges.
  • Prune and trim trees and shrubs (seasonal), shape cutting of all trees and hedges.
  • All dead leaves to be cut out.
  • Ensure that the premises are clean at all times, adhering to Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) procedures.
  • Proficient with operating grounds keeping equipment such as tractor, power mower, backpack blower and brush cutter.
  • Cope with physical demands of work individually or in a team.
