Department of Community Safety Basic Traffic Officers Learnership

The Department of Community Safety, Security and Liaison (DCSSL) in Mpumalanga Province is calling on unemployed youth to apply for the Basic Traffic Officers Diploma Learnership Programme for the 2025–2026 academic year.

This 12-month learnership aims to empower and equip qualifying youth with essential skills and knowledge in Traffic Law Enforcement, contributing to safer roads and more effective traffic management across the province.

The training will take place at the Mpumalanga Traffic Training College in Mkhuhlu (Calcutta), Bushbuckridge Local Municipality, where successful learners will receive full-time, accredited theoretical and practical training.

Upon successful completion, learners will be awarded a Diploma in Basic Traffic Officer (NQF Level 4).

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must meet the following criteria to qualify:

  • Minimum qualification: Grade 12 Certificate (Matric).
  • Must possess a valid Code B driving licence.
  • Must be a South African citizen.
  • Must have no criminal record.
  • Must be medically and physically fit (medical assessments will be conducted for shortlisted candidates).
  • Must be prepared to undergo strenuous physical training, driving tests, and competency assessments.
